  • She was the daughter of Zeus; her mother would have been Metis but Zeus ate her while she was pregnant.
  • She came out of Zeus forehead, fully grown and covered in armour
  • He ate her because he was scared that she would be more powerful than him.
  • According to Homer, in the Iliad, Athena was a fierce and ruthless warrior and in the Odyssey, she was angry and unforgiving.
  • She was the guardian of the Athens.
  • Also known as goddess of City for protecting civilized life.

Trojan war/ the iliad

  • THE ILIAD: She provided support for the Achaeans in those times, she also went as far as to deceive Hector so he could be killed by Achilles.
  • TROJAN WAR: Athena and Hera fought Paris because he chose Aphrodite, and gave her the golden apple.

Her Roman name was Minerva.
