  • Chromium was discovered by Louis-Nicholson Vauquelin
  • It was discovered in Siberian red lead in 1797
  • He obtained metallic chromium by heating chromium oxide

  • The word chromium comes from the Greek word Chroma
  • Chromium compounds are toxic and should be handled with care
  • Chromium can form many colorful compounds
