Henry James was an American author that was born in New York City on April 15, 1843. He attended Harvard Law school at a young age to pursue a career as a legal representative. After he realized that was not what he truly want he abandoned his law studies and because a writer. He lived through the Civil war and traveled the world to learn many cultures for his writing. He later died in London on February 28, 1916 during World War One.

Henry James greatest work was a novel titled “The portrait of a lady”. This book was about a young women who inherited lots of wealth and had to face the attacks she faced against society.This book was known world wide and was one of the best selling books at the time.

Mr James included parts of his life in his work, for example in his novel “The Portrait of a lady” he expresses his curiosity in the world through this quote, “She had an immense curiosity about life, and was constantly staring and wondering”. This was included in his book that related to himself and the protagonist of the novel.

Henry James had a huge impact on erring in general because he made a key transition between literacy realism and literacy modernism. This allowed him to become one of the greatest novelist in the English language.

My response to his work was being surprised on how complex and intricate his writing is. Henry James has an extraordinary way of writing that stunned me. This was by only reading parts of his work.
