  • Today, it is the main Christian church in Pamplona.

  • Pentagonal, star-like design
  • Later was converted into a prison

History

Sancho Garcés I (905-925)

Sancho Garcés I

  • Established the Navarre dynasty as its first monarch
  • Created alliances with other Christian groups to continue expanding his territory against the Moors

Expansion and Fall of Navarre Dynasty

  • The Navarre dynasty continues to expand under Sancho Garcés III el Mayor's (1004-1035) rule economically and socially.
  • As a result of Sancho VII's death, the Navarre dynasty falls and goes under French control.

SAN FERMIN

  • San Fermin. The festival of San Fermin, or the Running of the Bulls as it's more commonly known outside Spain, officially begins at midday on July 6th every year with the 'Chupinazo' which takes place on the balcony of the Casa Consistorial in Pamplona.

The running of the bulls

  • Thousands of people come every year to experience the excitement of the running of the bulls.
  • Pamplona residents dressed typically in red and white, get carried away by the continuous festival that invades the streets.
