How to survive an avalanche

  • If you are skiing, while skiing downhill, ski left or right to get out of the way.
  • Grab for a tree.
  • No tree? Swim!
  • Getting away in a snowmobile will work too.
  • You can suffocate if you get caught in an avalanche, which can happen if you are in for longer than 15 min.
