• Edna comes to terms with her feelings towards Robert.
• She shows defiance when she goes against Robert and does her own thing, sketching.

SECTION 3

• Leonce expresses concern to the doctor about Edna.
• Edna's estranged father comes to see her and she sketches him.

SECTION 4

• Alcee writes Edna a letter of apology.
• Edna feels overwhelmed and guilty considering all the material possessions she has.
• Alcee kisses Edna but there was no motivation of love behind it.

SECTION 5

• Edna hosts a house warming party.
• Again, intimacy is displayed between Ed a and Alcee.
• She finds comfort in Alcee since Robert is not there.

SECTION 6

• Edna tells Robert he's selfish.
• Robert reveals his love for Edna and how he was trying to escape it.
• She kills herself by drowning at the beach.
