  • Baseball player Babe Ruth was born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. Over the course of his career, Ruth went on to break baseball's most important slugging records, including most years leading a league in home runs, most total bases in a season, and highest slugging percentage for a season. In all, Ruth hit 714 home runs—a mark that stood until 1974.

SPORTS IN 1920

  • The ports in the 20’s were known as the “golden age” of sports. Especially the game of baseball

What is the significance of Joe Louis and Jesse Owens defeating German athletes in the 1930s?

  • I answered the question because a text said that Germans thought that there athletes were the real deal and superior. Then when Jesse Owens beat Hitler [a German runner] it affected the Germans. In then when Hitler said that Max Schmeling was going to beat Joe Louis, Joe just killed Max Schmeling in boxing that really affected the Germans.

TREATMENT NOW

  • Sport stars aren’t treated much different. People still glorify many athletes like they did back in the 20’s
