WHEN DID YOUR CULTURES RULE MESOPOTAMIA?

  • They began their rise in power in 1790 BCE
  • In 1595 BCE the Kassities conquered and ruled for 400 yrs.
  • In 612 BCE the Babylonian empire rose again.
After the fall of the of the Akkadian empire the city was taken over and settled by the Amorites . They began its rise in power in 1790 BCE when King Hammurabi took over. The city began to flourish but when Hammurabi died his sons took over. However they were not as strong leaders and the city grew weak and in 1595 BCE the Kassities conquered and ruled for 400 years until the Assyrians took over. In 612 BCE the Babylonian empire rose again. Nebuchadnezzar II

WHO WERE SOME NOTABLE RULERS FROM YOUR CULTURE?

  • Hammurabi was one of the great rulers of the first Babylon.

  • He is known for a code of laws called Hammurabi's Code
Hammurabi was one of the great rulers of the first Babylon, he is also the most well known. Hammurabi is known for a code of laws called Hammurabi's Code. It made a better empire by improving irrigation, organizing a well-trained army, and he had temples repaired. He also created more rights for women, although they did not have nearly as many rights as men, they still had more than before. Hammurabi's a Code involved criminal law and civil law. The leader after Hammurabi was Another ruler who had a big impact on Babylon was Assurbanipal.

  • Assurbanipal was the King of Nineveh.
  • He founded one of the first libraries ever.
  • The next King's name was Nebuchadnezzur.
  • He re-made canals, walls, temples, and palaces of Babylon.
Assurbanipal was the King of Nineveh, he founded one of the first libraries ever. His scribes were told to go collect all of the cuneiform tablets in the Fertile Cresent. He stored them all together, they they tell about the wealth in the Ancient Middle East. The next King's name was Nebuchadnezzur. Nebuchadnezzur's new Babylonian Empire went from the Persian Gulf to the Medditerranian Sea. He re-made canals, walls, temples, and palaces of Babylon that had fallen because people had deystoyed it. He brought with him an idea that came true called The Hanging Gardens.

What beliefs did your culture have?

  • The Babylonians were polythestic.

The Babylonians were polythestic but Hammurabi tried to promote the god named Marduk the Chaledan prince. Marduk was represented as a snake dog and was the chief god of the city of Babylon and also seemed to be the god of thunderstorms. They had festival days celebrating for the new year. In the 2nd Babylonian period A festival was celebrated for the recreation of the earth drawing from the Marduk centered story from the Enûma Eliš.i Enuma Eli's is a creation myth.

Civil Law this Part of law deals with your own rights and matters, such as business contracts, property inheritance, taxes, marriage, and divorce etc... Criminal Law this part of law handles with offenses against others such as robbery, assault, or murder. He had artisans carve about 300 laws on a stone pillar for Everyone. Hanging gardens was one of the acient wonders of the world. They also, united the empire by using roads.

What did your culture do not so well?

  • Hammurabi's sons were not strong leaders.
  • They weren't strong enough to defend their country.
After Hammurabi died his sons took over Babylon. But they were not strong leaders,and soon the Assyrians took over Babylon. Then in 612 BC, Babylon rose to power once more. After that, the Hitties took over Babylon and renamed it Karanduniash. The meaning of this name is unknown.

  • The Persian Empire used roads to unite all of the cities.
  • We use roads today to transport goods and supplies in our cars.
  • Hammurabi had an organized government he had laws.
  • Today we have rules in our public places and laws in all of America.

Priest-astrologers wanted to under-stand the stars and planets.Their observations of the heavens contributed to the learning of astronomy. Nebeccenazzer hanging gardens are on of the Seven Acient Wonders of the World, he built it for his homesick wife.

Acient Babylon was a famous city from Mesopotamia. Hummarabi was the ruler of the ancient city-state of Babylon, located near present-day Al Hillah, Babil, in Iraq. Onthe Eastern Bank of the Euphartes River. Once Babylon was destroyed by neighboring people, Nebeccenazzer ruled and babylon was rebuilt. Now it stretched from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea.
