How B.C.H.I. works

  • All of BCHI's clients are known as "partners".
  • They fall into the catagories of operational partnership and professional partnership.

Why "Partnerships"?

  • The term “Partnership” implies an active working relationship between two entities. Austere environments are dynamic, traditional certifications are not. Partnerships allow us to take a custom approach to each and every client and address their unique needs.

Operational Partners

  • Any agency, entity, person or service that may provide direct operational service during an emergency outside of the urban environment. This includes,but is not limited to, emergency services, guide services,environmental hazard mitigators, boundary controlled ski areas, boundary controlled bike areas, and outdoor research facilitators.

  • These are operational partners, as earlier defined, that enter into contract with B.C.H.I with the goal of systematic improvement.

  • Expert medical direction for backcountry operations
  • 24/7 phone consultation to BCHI leadership. Not including online medical direction
  • CQI of all backcountry operational and medical reports

  • Sliding scale dependent on size, type, length and identified needs of the “incubation" process.
  • 1x-10x annual average partner employee salary + travel cost + outside certification cost + hard deliverables.

  • Partners, as previously defined, that have satisfactorily completed the "BCHI development partnership", and enter into agreement with BCHI for safety and emergency operational management.

  • CQI of all backcountry operational and medical reports.

  • Quarterly high fidelity field trainings.
  • Hosting, facilitation, and management of requested certifications.
  • Access to innovative partner products.
  • Out of area training opportunities.

  • Opportunities to access BCHI partners for further innovation.
  • Exclusive permission to utilize “BCHI Accredited Partner”and affiliated imagery on vehicles, uniforms, advertisement in all media, private fund raising and official requests for funding.

B.C.H.I Accredited Partnership Cost

  • 0.5x-5x average annual partner employee salary/per year +travel + direct cost of outside certification + hard deliverables.
  • Based on size and complexity of BCHI partner operations.

  • Any agency, entity, person or service that may provide...

  • Technical outdoor education
  • Research, development, production or distribution of hard goods or technology designed for outdoor professionals.
  • Regulation of outdoor industry standards

Professional Partnership Financials

  • Any agency, entity, person, or service that may fit both the operational and professional partnership models.
  • These partnerships, including all contractual and financial agreements, will be decided on a case by case basis.

Non-Partner Work

  • BCHI will work with entities that are not BCHI partners on a per project basis.
  • Base rates for BCHI non-partner projects begin at $300 per billable person hour + travel cost + cost of hard deliverables.
