  • 1674 demanded that Indians living in treaty-protected lands should be killed

WHO WERE THE KEY PLAYERS IN THE REBELLION?

  • Nathaniel Bacon
  • William Berkeley

WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME OF THE REBELLION?

  • Signed "declaration of the people of Virginia"
  • Accused the governor of unfair taxes and failure to protect the settlement.
  • September 19, 1676, burned Jamestown to the ground
  • Berkeley launched series of attacks to defeat rebels (Chesapeake Bay)
  • Governor Berkeley returned to power

DID THE REBELLION CHANGE HUMAN BEHAVIOR?
