How do bacteria benefit the environment?

BENEFITS

  • Bacteria is found in the soil. They allow nutrient cycles to happen, giving us the protein, sugar, and fat
  • Bacteria can also serve as biosensors, meaning they can locate pollutants and expel them
  • Bacteria fights any and every part of pollution
  • Whenever there is an oil spill in the ocean, bacteria steps in and cleans up the mess, saving the lives of fish
  • Bacteria also cleans up toxic waste, which is a vital part to the environment

  • Bacteria assists nitrogen fixation, which creates ammonia to sustain plant life
  • Bacteria are also decomposers, meaning they break down the dead material so we don't have to deal with it
  • Bacteria also assists all living things with proper digestion. E. coli bacteria helps with digestion
