BALD EAGLE

• Known to everybody as the bald eagle, its Latin name is haliaeetus leucocephalus
• The eagles became endangered in 1967 due to habitat destruction, degradation, illegal shooting, and contamination.

THE EAGLES HABITAT

• These majestic birds live near large bodys of open water such as lakes and rivers.
• They live where there is plenty of fish to eat, and tall trees for nesting and roosting.
• Bald eagles have a presence in every u.s state except hawaii.

EAGLES LIFESTYLE

• These birds weigh between 12-13 pounds on average.
• Takes them 4-5 years before they reproduce.
• These birds migrate in the winter.
• The eagle has no predators. And it preys on fish and smaller animals.
