PROXIMAL HUMERUS FRACTURE
BALL AND SOCKETS IN ANIMALS
Unlike a human scapula, the horse's scapula has more of a isosceles triangle shape, while the human scapula has a more irregular, but also triangular shape. The humerus in horses is much thicker, and a human humerus is long and narrow. The horse's joint meets at about a 90° angle at rest, while in humans the angle is much smaller.
The scapula of the domestic dog is similar to that of the horse's as it has a similar triangular shape with a line down the middle. The humerus has a curve to it unlike a human humerus which is mostly straight.
Cow's scapulae are also similar to the last two in that they are triangular and have a ridge down the middle. Their humeri are short and also have a more curved shape, unlike that of humans which are long and straighter.
