  • Degree's requires Forensic science, biology, and chemistry.
  • Must have 3 years as a forensics apprentice.

  • Beginning: $30,000
  • Average: $55,000
  • Highest: $80,000 or higher

Mostly in urban areas that have a big criminal justice system.

WHERE THEY CAN WORK:

  • In the beginning they work at a crime scene on the field.
  • After the ballistics expert works and analyzes the evidence in a lab.
  • To finish their job they later testify in court their conclusion.

WHAT THEY DO:

  • Collects/analyze firearm-ballistic evidence.
  • Analyze gunshot residue.
  • Determine caliber and what firearm is used in crime scene.
  • Fire rounds for testing evidence.
  • Write reports about the evidence and testify in court.

HOURS THEY WORK:

  • They work around 40 hours a week.
  • They work on a usual schedule and work around 5 hours a day.
  • Sometimes get called in on emergency cases.

PROS:

  • Is good paying
  • Stable and important job
  • Is in high demand in the work force
  • Get to shoot and study firearms
