HISTORY OF BARBADOS

  • English settlers arrived in 1627-1628
  • Gained independence in 1966
  • Most of the population was white male in earlier years
  • 1780 hurricane killed 4,000 people
  • Period of1841-1845 it was considered healthiest place to live

  • West coast is the calmer side of the Caribbean
  • Can't wear camo because of troops
  • Nude baiting is illegal in Barbados
  • Barbados is almost completely flat
  • Is the birth place of Rihanna

WEATHER/FOREST

  • Usually gets 40-90 inches of rainfall per year
  • They go through a "wet season" June-November(lots of rain)
  • They go through a "dry season" December-May(very humid &hot)
  • Forrest have many different kinds of species living in it
  • When founded by English the whole island was almost entirely dense jungle

  • Barbarians are very spiritual an religiously conscious
  • They eat a lot of fruit
  • The children must go to army at ages of 12-18
  • The woman usually stays at home while the man provides
  • They live in tiny houses with maximum 2 rooms
