BIRTH

• Dias was born in 1450
• He was born in Cape of good Hope in South Africa

METHODS

• He worked for King John the 2nd on Oct. 10th to sail around the coast
• He opened the way for a sea route from Europe to Asia
• They came around a bunch of encountered storms while they were out on the sea

TRAVELING

• A terrible storm blew Dias' ships out to sea and his crew did not spot land of 13 days
• Dias named the tip of Africa "Cape of Storms"because of the storm they had encountered when they sailed past it
• In 1488 he became the first European to sail round the southernmost tip of Afirca

MODERN DAY

• Dias helped administer the Guinea gold trade until 1494
• He had only made a single voyage aboard a warship
• One of Dias' men killed a tribesman,after which resistance ceased

DEATH

• Dias died on May 29th,1500
• He died in Cape of good Hope in South Africa
