- Educate yourself about the game you will be hunting
- Buy appropriate gear and clothing for the environment
- Secure lease arrangements and permits
- Visit the site before season starts to prepare blinds etc.
- Sight in rifles, handguns etc.

EDUCATE YOUR SELF ABOUT THE GAME

WAITING FOR THE GAME FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME (USUALLY IN A BLIND)
STALKING
FOLLOWING TRACKS OR OTHER SIGNS TO TRACK DOWN THE GAME
VITAL SHOTS
- Know where to shoot (preferably heart or lung shot)
- Have patience to make a clean shot
- Choose the proper shot angle (broadside, or quartering)

APPROACHING A DOWNED ANIMAL
- Approach the large game from behind their head
- Wait at a distance for a few minutes to confirm the death
- If the animal is still alive take another quick shot to the heart
- Finally tag your kill with the appropriate game tag
CLEANING THE GAME
- Clean it quickly and carefully so that bacteria doesn't start growing
- Immediately put the meat on ice to keep cool and keep it from spoiling
