Basketball  History

• The history of basketball spans over 115 years ago
• Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith
• He was under orders of Dr. Luther Gulick
• The original game of basketball started with 18 men
• Dr. Naismith had 14 days to create an indoor game

The Creation

• James Naismith hung two half-bushel peach baskets as hoops
• Basketball started in (Present) Springfield college
• Naismith developed 13 rules based on five principles

Basketball now

• Basketball has grown more than any other sport!
• There have been lots of changes to the game over the years:
• Rules, style of play, equipment, court markings, and many others
