- Basketball was invented in December 1891.
- James was born in 1861.

WHEN AND WHY WAS BASKETBALL INVENTED?
- Basketball was invented by James Naismith in december of 1891.
- Basketball was invented because james wanted to relieve everyones boredom because they could not go outside in the winter.
- James nailed to baskets to the balconies at each end of the gym and found a soccer ball and set some rules. Some of the rules are similar to the ones we have today.
