Chemical reaction:
-The acids and bases react when mixed together.
-When dissolved in water there is a reaction between the acid product, citric acid, and the alkaline product sodium bicarbonate. The result is a salt called sodium citrate. In the course of the reaction, carbon dioxide is released. This causes the bubbles you see. The other components that are added are for aesthetics such as skin feel after the bath.

Examples of ingredients used in a bath bomb:
-sodium bicarbonate
-citric acid
-fine sea salt
- fragrance
- arame seaweed
- lemon oil
- lavender oil
- seaweed absolute

Why some ingredients are used:
TITANIUM DIOXIDE- acts as a physical sunscreen
LAURYL BETAINE: skin and hair conditioning properties. Improves quality and stability of foam, making it more durable in the presence of dirt and oil.
JASMINE ABSOLUTE- often used in cosmetics for fragrance

The two main ingredients that make the bath bomb react are sodium bicarbonate, and citric acid
