  • Was the general for the union

DURING THE BATTLE

  • 120 generals, 9 killed
  • July 3rd fighting moved to Culp's Hill where the union tried to regain land
  • 51,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing

SIGNIFICANCE

  • Costliest war, but not largest
  • Turning point of war
  • 4 months later Lincoln gave Gettysburg Address speech
