WHAT LED UP TO THE BATTLE
- Sherman tried to sever confederate supply lines
- During his March to sea (Sherman's March to sea) his objective was to destroy anything in his path
SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE BATTLE
- The battle of Jonesborough was the final battle of the Atlanta campaign
- The battle of Jonesborough gave Atlanta to the union
- Sherman had successfully cut some confederate supply lines but the confederates quickly rebuilt them
The outcome of the battle of Jonesborough was that it ended when the union had ordered a straight rush to the heart of Atlanta the captured govan and 600 of his men then the confederates retreated. The union had won this battle.
This battle was a win for Sherman and his March to sea (Sherman's March to sea) this battle showed the confederates what will happen if they go to war with the union.
