  • General grant

WHY IS IT SIGNIFICANT?

  • The reopening of the Mississippi made the economy better
  • Helped the abolition war
  • War resulted in favor of the north causing all confederate hopes of foreign help to be lost

WHAT HAPPENED? WHO WON?

  • The union drove out provisions of the confederates. The confederates were starved out as a result of this. Therefore the union won.
