Battle Of Bunker Hill

  • June 1775
  • Mainly fought on Breeds Hill
  • The British won after 3 trips up the hill & The Patriots ran out of ammo
  • The Patriots Stood Up to the GREATEST Army

Olive Branch Petition

  • Wrote request in July 1775
  • Also requested peace from King George
  • The Colonists sent it- they wanted a happy reunion

Common Sense

  • January 1776
  • It was written by Thomas Paine
  • It convinced many people to join the Patriots side
  • Sold over 100,000 copies!!!!

Declaration Of Independence

  • July 4,1776
  • Told the King they wanted to Separate
  • It told the King all the things he did wrong to them
  • King REJECTED!! All writers & signers committed Treason!!!!
  • It was actually signed on August 2,1776
  • We celebrate this document every year!

  • Training resulted in a STRONG tough army
  • News of French Intervention gives HOPE

  • In defeat at Charleston the Patriots lost over 5,400 troops.
