First bullet: worrying about how you look can interfere with your social life, school, etc. creates a wall between you and other people being perceived ugly is a major concern.

Last bullet: BDD may be misdiagnosed as a social phobia or agoraphobia or a panic disorder. Misinterpreted at OCD because of obsession and compulsive behaviors. Delusional BDD is often misdiagnosed as schizophrenia or psychotic depression as well.

First bullet: the average time it took for BDD to respond after medication was 6-9 weeks and some even 12-14 weeks. Long-term treatment appears necessary SRIs=Prozac, symbyax

SRIs work by blocking a receptor in the brain that absorbs the chemical serotonin, which is known to influence mood. Drugs can improve outlook and behavior but we aren't sure how SRIs do this job

CBT consists of exposure and response therapy which is called (ERP) to reduce social avoidance and repetitive behaviors like mirror checking and excessive grooming
Still seek treatment by doing surgery or dermatology treatment
