PRESENTATION OUTLINE

BE glad your nose is on your face

Written by: Jack Prelutsky

Theme

  • What the author is trying portray is that you should be happy with who you are and how you're made.
  • This poem also shows that life could be much worse and you should be happy with the one you have.
  • (An example of that) "that clearly would not be a treat, for you'd be forced to smell you feet."

PERSONIFICATION

  • An example of this is when it says "forever tickled by you hair."
  • This is a personification because hair can't physically "tickle" someone or something on purpose

Metaphor

  • " Within your ear, your nose is an absolute catastrophe"
  • He is saying this but not using "like or as" so it's a metaphor
  • Your nose is not a real catasrophe.

IMAGERY

  • "What if your precious nose was sandwiched in between your toes"
  • This gives an image of where your nose could be.

Tone

  • Light and Humorus
  • Unreal examples of where you nose could be
  • The idea of the poem is very funny
