The official currency of Belgium is the Euro.

The official languages of Belgium is French, German and Dutch.

1 euro equals $1.06 dollars.

Belgium is know for many foods but their national dish is Carbonade flamande. (Belgian beef stew) It is like French Beef Bourguignon but is served with bread or fries.

Belgium is located in Western Europe and has about 40 miles of seacoast. It borders the North Sea and is the size of Maryland. The Meuse and the Schelde are the main rivers of Belgium and are important commercial arteries.

The religion practiced in Belgium is Roman, Catholic and Protestant.

Belgium has a temperate maritime weather influenced by the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean. They have cool summers and moderate summers. Since the country is so small, they have very little variation in climate.

1. Belgium occupies part of the Roman province of Belgica which was named after Belgae, people of ancient Gaul. The land was conquered by Julius Caesar in 57-50 B.C.
2. In 1252, the town of Orval in Belgium burned down. It took 100 years to rebuilt.
3. In 1713, Austria Ruled Belgium.
4. In 1795, Belgium became a part of France.
5. In 1865, Leopold I became the king of Belgium.
6. In 1909, King Albert became the new king of Belgium
