What's a beluga whale?

  • The scientific name is Delphinapterus leucas
  • It looks like a white dolphin, but bigger. It’s length is 4 meters and its weight is about 3,000 lbs.

What is the adaptation of a beluga whale?

  • Some physical adaptation are Camouflage,vertebrae in their neck, and absence of a dorsal fin.
  • It keeps them from being notice and so when a predator comes they will be ready to swim away or fight back.

Facts

  • They live in the Sunlight zone in artic oceans
  • They are Nekton, because they are swimmers and not plankton that just float around;But belugas aren’t fast swimmers.

  • They made a negative impact on belugas for trapping some at sea world. they are supposed to live until there 58 years old,but at sea world they die at the age of 3.
  • populations dynamics;D.F.O, pollution is making beluga’s die from cancer.
  • Hunting in Alaska is making belugas closer to extinction.
