Educational background: He graduated with all honors from high school, attended Yale university where he earned his degree in psychology. From Yale he went to med school and became a neurosurgeon at John Hopkins hospital.
1987 he separated Siamese twins. The binder twins were born joined at the back of the head. Operations like this had always failed. After 22 hours and with a 70 member surgical team, he was successful.
2001 he was named by CNN and Time magazine, as one of the nation's 20 foremost physician and scientist. That same year he was selected by the library of congress as one of the 89 living legends.
