INTRODUCTION

  • Place of birth: Detroit, Michigan
  • Early life: When he was little, kids picked on him continuously which led to him having a very bad temper.
  • Educational background: He graduated with all honors from high school, attended Yale university where he earned his degree in psychology. From Yale he went to med school and became a neurosurgeon at John Hopkins hospital.

TIMELINE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 1987- He separated Siamese twins
  • 2001- He was named one of the nations foremost physician and scientist.
  • 2008- He received the presidential medal of freedom

SEPARATION OF THE BINDER TWINS

  • 1987 he separated Siamese twins. The binder twins were born joined at the back of the head. Operations like this had always failed. After 22 hours and with a 70 member surgical team, he was successful.

PRESIDENTIAL AWARD

  • In 2008 Ben received the presidential medal of freedom by George w. Bush. This is the nation's highest civilian award.

PHYSICIAN AND SCIENTIST

  • 2001 he was named by CNN and Time magazine, as one of the nation's 20 foremost physician and scientist. That same year he was selected by the library of congress as one of the 89 living legends.

TRAITS

  • Intelligent- He went to Yale university and continued to medical school after he graduated high school as an honors.
  • Determined- In high school he was determined to become a physician and 8 years later he did along with many amazing medical procedures.

CONCLUSION

  • We should be concerned not only about the health of our individual patients, but also the health of our entire society.
  • Ben Carson didn't only care about his patients but cared about everyone else. He should be remembered as a compassionate, nice, and determined person.
