Benjamin Franklin was the 6th president of Pennsylvania. Benjamin Franklin was one of the only founding father to have signed all 4 key documents establishing the U.S.
At age 17 he ran away from his apprenticeship and went to Philadelphia where he found work as a printer.
In 1766 Franklin testified in the British parliament against the stamp act of 1765.
As minister to France starting in 1778 Franklin helped negotiate and draft the 1783 treaty of Paris .
In 1785 Franklin left France and returned once again in Philadelphia.
Franklin died a year later , ( age 84 ) - April 17, 1790.

WHY WAS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SO IMPORTANT ?

Benjamin Franklin was one of the most important Americans in history. Franklin at a earlier part of his life , was a business person and inventor.Franklin ran the Pennsylvania Gazette, a very famous newspaper. He also published Poor Richards Almanac , which was very popular because it made predictions about the future.Franklin also invented many items such as , a stove , lighting rod , bifocals (eyeglasses) and started Americas first library.

Later on in Franklins life, Franklin got interested into politics.In1776, Franklin helped Thomas Jefferson write the Deceleration of independence. Then 2 years later he traveled to France and convinced the French to help America in the war against England. After the war ended, Franklin joined the continental congress and signed the constitution.
