PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Benjamin Banneker
Benjamin Banneker was born on November 9th, 1731, in Baltimore county, and died on October 9, 1806. Benjamin was a free American scientist , surveyor, almanac author, and am energetic farmer. Benjamin Banneker was born in Baltimore Country, Maryland. Benjamin had a cheap education, but was also self taught (homeschool).

Early Life
His mother, Mary was a free black women, and his father, Ronert a free slave from Guinea. Benjamin has two conflicting problems of his family's history. Banneker always called his self as having only African ancestry. No Bannkeres papers survived that describe an white ancetor or the name of his grandmother. Bannkeres name was given on the deed of his family’s 100-acre (0.40 km squared) farm in 1737, when he was six years old. Banneker lived on that farm nearly all of his intire life. His formal education ended when he was old and strong enough to help on his family’s farm. In 1753 at his age at 22 he completed a wooden clock that struck on each hour.

ABOUT CONFLICT
Benjamin Banneker wrote a letter to Thomas Jefferson in 1791 about slavery and how they should be free. Banneker felt like Thomas Jefferson would agree that slavery was cruel and innapropriet. Banneker always used to believe in him self, and regards to that he used to do quotes to support him self. Banneker didn't want to be cruel so he used respectful words to show Jefferson that slavery was wrong. Finally, Benjamin Banneker succeeded his goal.

Dimentions Of Conflict
The sources of conflict is because others were not against slavery, and Banjamin Banneker was against slavery, and thought it was cruel and innapropriate. It is over slavery. The relationship among other conflicting parties, was open, such as when Banneker was talking with Thomas Jefferson about being against slavery. The conflict was mostly calm, since there was no fighting (war) about it. It was like a Cold War but without building better things within others. It was also friendly, because it didn't involve cruel and killing scenes. This conflict continued over aproximetly the second half of Benneker's life during the 1770s, this situation needed in 1863 many years later when he died.

The people that were involved in this situation are no longer involved today, because the conflict ended and now there is no such things as slavery.
Benjamin decided to deal with the conflict peacefuly. He was communicating with people with letters that had stuff written on that would change the other people’s ideas and also thing slavery was bad.

PARADIGM

This paradigm, is peace through will power. Its peace through will power, because this situation was not violence. For example, because they communicating by leetrs and small meetings. I think that it was right to be non-violence because it might lead to a bad discution and start a war afterwards. I also think this is peace through communication, because they communicated calmly without violence.
