WHAT ARE UV RAYS?

  • Ultraviolet rays are unseen wavelengths of light; they’re radiation like X rays.
  • Prolonged exposure to them can cause sunburns, melanoma, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, and accelerated aging.
  • Benzophenones (and other chemicals like SPF) act like a barrier from these harmful rays.

CONTROVERSY

  • Several studies have shown that Benzones, and other UV blockers may cause cancer.
  • Some brands have tried to rid themselves of this ingredient in fear of lawsuits/causing cancer.
  • Breathing second hand cigarillo smoke at a Cuban bar in Miami also causes cancer. Having WiFi causes cancer. Yet we still do it.
