- Was born in1752 she hade16 brothers and sisters. she always helped her mother sew.
- Betsy was1 of the few children who went to school at the time she learned lots of things.

When betsy was older she went to work in a upholsterer's shop. she met John Ross and they got married. Then they opened a sewing shop.

Thar was a war at the time and John went of to serve in it.
But Betsy stayed behind to run the shop.

One day in 1776 Geoge washington who was not yet president came to her shop.
And asked her to sew the first flag of America. And she agreed.
