IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE

  • Meaning- Immediately or instantaneously
  • Derives from Corinthians 15:52

Text- In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Paul is preaching the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He explains the changes that are brought upon his brethren and the significance of Jusus's sacrifice.

It is better to give than to receive

  • Meaning- Giving is better than receiving
  • Derives from Acts 20:35

Text- In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Paul is speaking his farewells to the Ephesians leaders. One of his sayings to them is about Jesus's saying that it is better to give than to receive.

JEZEBEL

  • Meaning- Chaste, free from carnal connection
  • Derives from Kings 16:31

Text- And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

Jezebel was the worst example of evil in the bible and tried to overthrow the worship of God. She demanded that people forsake The Lord and killed many of his prophets.
