The Purpose of the Bicycle

• You can use the bike for touring
• You can use it for fitness
• You can use it for entertainment and enjoyment

THE INVENTOR!

• Karl Von Drais is the inventor of the bicycle
• Ernest Michaux and Pierre Lallement invented the first bike with pedals

HOW IT WAS INVENTED

• In 1817, Karl Von Drais debuted a two- wheeled vehicle known as the dandy horse or hobby horse
• It was named the dandy horse because it was meant as a replacement for horses.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEN AND NOW

• The bike was used only for transportation
• Now it is used many thing including transportation, entertainment, and enjoyment

INOVATIONS

• The tires have increased in size
• Now the front and the back tires are the same size
• Some bikes these days have motors and they are called mopeds.

HOW THE BICYCLE HAS HELPED

• There is less pollution because of the bike
• More people started exercising using the bike.

PROBLEMS WITH THE BIKE

• Drivers will have to pay a fee if they hit a biker that is not in the lane.
• It is also very esay to get hurt at night when riding a bike because cars can't see you
• Drivers also get mad at having to share their lane with slow bikers

STEM

• Science= discovering the speed of the bike.
• Technology= creating a form of transportation that doesn't use gas
• Engineering= designing a comfortable seat for riding the bike
• Mathematics= the size of the tiers and dimensions of the bike

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

• We would change the kickstand.
