BILL OF RIGHTS PROJECT

AMENDMENT I

SPEECH

• Artifact: Mockingbird
• The mockingbird is an interesting
• bird due to its nature to repeat anything
• that it hears, and speaks freely,
• much like this amendment allows us to.

PRESS

• Artifact: Pen
• This right is to all press and media,
• saying that the government has no right
• to censor them or what they say, and a pen
• is often a sign of the media and what they write.

RELIGION

• Artifact: Two hands clasped together, praying
• This right allows any citizen to be a part
• of any religion they want, and religion
• is almost always symbolized by a person
• praying, often involving clasped hands.

ASSEMBLY

• Artifact: a group of people protesting
• This right allows groups of people to
• gather to show their appreciation or
• displeasure towards a certain thing without
• violence, much like common protestors.

PETITION

• Artifact: a protest sign
• This right allows you to protest against
• something that you feel is incorrect
• or unjust in any way through use of
• nonviolence, and often a cardboard sign.

AMENDMENT II

RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

• Artifact: A bullet
• This right allows you to carry around
• weaponry (with a license) as a means of self
• defense, and weaponry as well as self defense
• are sometimes represented by a a bullet

AMENDMENT III

NO QUARTERING

• Artifact: a lock
• This right allows you to decline soldiers the
• use of your house and supplies during
• during times of war, allowing you to
• (figuratively and now literally) lock them out.

AMENDMENT IV

SEARCH AND SEIZURE

• Artifact: a search warrant
• This right forces police to have a search
• warrant before they can search your
• living space for incriminating evidence.
• (Couldn't find a pic. of a search warrant)

AMENDMENT V

SELF INCRIMINATION

• Artifact: A lawyer
• This right protects you from
• having to tell the police any
• possibly incriminating evidence,
• letting you see your lawyer first.

DUE PROCESS

• Artifact: a shield
• This right protects citizens
• from losing their constitutional
• rights (life, liberty, ect.), much like
• a shield protects from an attack.

AMENDMENT VI

SPEEDY TRIAL

• Artifact: a stopwatch
• This right forces the government to
• have your trial in a small, set amount
• of time, and a small set of time is
• often represented by a stopwatch.

RIGHT TO ATTORNEY

• Artifact: Mallet
• This right allows you to have a lawyer starting when
• you are taken into custody, and if you can't afford
• it, then the government pays for one for you, to help
• you in court, which is often represented by a mallet.

JURY OF PEERS

• Artifact: a football team
• This right allows you to have a jury of peers when in court,
• or a jury of people that understand how you may have been
• thinking in that situation, and how you may have acted,
• very much like how a football team understands each other.

AMENDMENT VII

RIGHT TO JURY

• Artifact: a dollar bill
• This right allows you to have
• a jury in civil cases exceeding
• 20$, and the dollar bill is almost
• always represented by a dollar bill.

AMENDMENT VIII

NO CRUEL OR UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT

• Artifact: a knife
• This amendment protects citizens from
• being punished in cruel and unusual
• ways, in court or real life, and often
• a weapon for this is a knife

AMENDMENT IX

NON-RESTATED RIGHTS

• Artifact: imaginary friend
• This right protects all your rights that
• are not listed in the Bill of Rights,
• much like how an imaginary friend
• isn't really there, but he still is kinda there.

AMENDMENT X

POWER LEFTOVERS

• Artifact: leftovers
• This right gives the power that isn't
• given to the federal government
• to the state government, much like
• leftovers after a meal can be eaten later.
