MITOCHONDRION

  • This is the powerhouse of the cells
  • It looks like a slipper
  • The functions are that it releases energy stored in food molecules

VACUOLE

  • Large balloon shaped basin
  • It looks similar to a ballon
  • The functions are that it stores excess water, waste, and nutrients

RIBOSOMES

  • Small membranous SAC created in the nucleus
  • It looks similar to spaghetti
  • The functions are to create protein

LYSOSOME

  • Small membranous SAC of digestive enzymes
  • The functions are that they digest food, invaders & old organelles that the cell no longer wants
  • It looks like a circle

CYTOSKELETON

  • Made of tiny hairs ( microfilaments) and little tubes ( microtubles)
  • The functions are that it gives the cell support and rigity
  • And it allows movement within the cell

PLASMA MEMBRANE

  • Double layer structure that surrounds the entire cell
  • The function is that it isolates the cell from the surrounding environments.
  • Plus it allows things to enter and exit the cell

CHROMATIN

  • A loosely packed DNA; present when the cell is not dividing
  • The function are that it codes for proteins and traits

NUCLEUS

  • Control center of the cell
  • The functions are that it stores DNA, which is used to create protein.
  • And to carry out other cell processes

GOLGI BODY

  • Small folded membrane organelle; appears similar to SER
  • The functions are that it buds to create organelles called lysosomes
  • And it puts "finishing touches" on proteins & lipids coming from RER & SER

ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

  • Membranous folds that surrounds the nucleus & speckled with ribosomes
  • The functions are that it synthesizes protein

SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

  • Membranous folds that surrounds the RER & aren't speckled with ribosomes
  • The functions are that it synthesizes lipids
