BIODOME

BY: ZANASIA BYNUM, TYREKE SPEIGHT, CARTRELL HILL AND ULISES ORTEZ

WHAT IS A BIODOME ?

  • It's a building ecosystem in a closed environment under sustainable conditions.
  • The biodome responsibility is to create its own water, nutrients, and survives without any help from outside.

WHY IS A BIODOME USED?

  • Biodomes are used to preserve and try to recreate the natural existing biomes.

SAVANNA

  • A savanna is a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, which can be founded between a tropical rainforest and desert biome.
  • Tropical grasslands are located near the equator, between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn .
  • They cover much of Africa

WHY WE CHOOSE THIS BIOME

  • We choose this biome because our country Nigeria goes really good with this biome which is savanna
  • Temperature in Nigeria is really high
  • Nigeria is very dry and Savanna is a dry and hot biome

NIGERIA

  • Located in West, Africa
  • The capital is Abuja
  • Another name for Nigeria is "Giant of Africa"
  • Much of Nigeria is covered with plains and savannas.
  • Green plants grow everywhere
  • Today, most of the animals have been killed by hunters or their habitats have been destroyed .

EXPLAIN HOW ABIOTIC AND BIOTIC FACTORS INTERACT TO CREATE BIOMES IN NC

  • When you think about abiotic factors you should think about clouds, weather, temperature, oxygen ,air, water, sunlight, etc.
  • Abiotic factors are the non-living components of a habitat.
  • Biotic factors is the complete opposite of abiotic factors.
  • Depending on the life of a plant the more oxygen you will get. Abiotic can affect our area because where the temperate zone is at.

COMPARE HUMAN USE OF TRADITIONAL ENERGY SOURCES TO ALTERNATIVE ENERGY

  • Traditional energy source is fossil fuels, coal, oil and natural gas
  • Alternative energy source is a renewable sources like wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, and biomass. Biomass provides biofuels such as ethanol and renewable diesel p for making plastic and chemical from renewable materials.

Summarize how greenhouse gases can have a global impact on biodiversity.

  • Climate is a important influence on ecosystems. Climate changes and affects ecosystems in a variety of ways
  • Temperatures are necessary to their survival. Species relocate or die, removing predators or prey that were in the food chain

Summarize the concept of “reduce, reuse, recycle” in terms of impact on natural resources.

  • Reducing natural resources means using fewer resources in the place. This is the most effective of the three R's and the place to begin.
  • Reducing natural resources help to get rid of more pollution in the air.
  • Prevent pollution caused by reducing the need to harvest new raw materials, saves energy.
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change.
