Biomimicry Principles
solar powered, self cleaning, form fits function, recycles everything, rewards cooperation, local expertise, diverse and curbs excess

What if a motorcycle was more like a horse?

Runs on

Recent sunlight
Quieter
Fuel at home
Footprint smaller

Ebikes are here, but not solar powered
Hydro or wind may work

Diversify the grid and make it more resilient

Self Cleaning

Cleaning a bike is a pain.

Form fits Function

Muscles respond to use

Older horses learn and have training

Are less reactive

Can return you home ... some

Recycles

Everything
A horse wasn’t always a horse.

Manure feeds the next gen of food

Horse becomes food

Demands

local expertise
Plains critter

Adapted to open plains, but will change coat seasonally.

Breeds to handle specific chores - work horses are much larger and can go all day, quarter horses - for a quarter mile race, thoroughbreds for racing, ponies for being obnoxious

Depends on

diversity
Further generations depend on genetic diversity.

Curbs Excess

A horse will store excess, but that is used in the winter.

It goes as fast as it needed to escape the fastest predator.

Pronghorn can travel much faster than anything else. Must have co-evolved with a fast prairie predator that no longer exists.

The Motorcycle would

  • heal, mate, learn
  • older motorcycles $$$$
  • flexible and adapt
  • make you a better person
  • little, if any, pollution
  • quiet
  • Re use everything

North America

was perfect for the canoe - and visa versa

Eons of trial and error has produced a craft we can't improve on

Baidarka

The Canoe

  • self cleaning, recyclable (at one time), rewarded cooperation, diverse, curbed excess
  • focus on local expertise & form fitting function

Features: Line, Flare, Freeboard,
Covered, Open
Deck, Tumblehome, Rocker, Length, Mass, gunwhale,

Explore how each effect performance of the craft.

fit form to function

What were these boats used for and where were they used?

There's a reason

why they don't match the archetype canoe

To Do

  • Pick one & Sketch it
  • Create a list of observations
  • Find someone working on the same boat.
  • Discuss inferences based on observations .... conclude
  • Why and Where?
