WHAT IS IT?
An injection of healthy stem cells into your body to replace damaged or diseased stem cells.

WHY IS IT USED?
To help replace stem cells that has been damaged.
Or to help certain diseases.
It may be used for people who have blood disorders such as, leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma.

WHEN DID IT START?
Research mainly first started in the mid 1800's
That's when they discovered that cells had the ability to produce other cells.
Successful research began in 1956, by Dr. E. Donnall Thomas.
He successfully transplanted bone marrow for the first time.
5.
IS STEM CELL THERAPY SAFE?
There are a range of diseases caused by stem cell therapy.
But research is still trying to find way for that not to happen.
6.
TYPES OF STEM CELLS
There are many different stem cells throughout the body.
They are formed at different stages of your life.
Embryonic stem cells; come from the early stages of life.
Cord blood stem cells; come from a baby's obilical cord.
Mesenchymal stem cell; found in bone marrow.
