IUD
a small device that is placed in the uterus to prevent pregnancy. It is hormonal. IUDs are one of the most effective forms of birth control available. Less than 1 out of 100 women will get pregnant each year if they use an IUD. Cost is from $0 to $1,000 depends how long it's for.
Permanent birth control (sterilization)
Surgical procedure where the Fallopian tubes, which carry the the eggs from the ovaries to the uterus, are tied, cut, or blocked. Cost ranges from $1,500- $6,000. Over time, scar tissue grows around each tubal implant, permanently blocking the tubes.
Abstinence
Not having any kind of sex play with a partner. Only way to be absolutely sure that you won't have an unintended pregnancy or get an STD.
Condom
Worn on the penis during intercourse. Prevents pregnancy by collecting pre-cum and semen when a man ejeculates. Keeps sperm from entering the vagina. They're effective if used correctly. Cost is $1 or free.
Birth Control Pills
Kind of medication that women can take daily to prevent pregnancy. Pills are hormonal. They keep eggs from leaving the ovaries. Makes cervical miscus thicker. They cost about $0- $50 each month.
Female Condoms
Inserted deep into the vagina. The ring at the closed end holds pouch in the vagina. The ring at the open end stay outside the vaginal opening during intercourse. Effective when used correctly. Cost about $4 each.
Spermicide
Contains chemicals that stops sperm from moving. Inserted deep into the vagina shortly before intercorsem they block the cervix, so sperm cannot reach the egg. And it keeps sperm from moving, so they cannot join with an egg. Effective when used correctly. Cost about $8 per package.
