Black Stallion Vineyard

Black Stallion is a vineyard in the Napa Valley. It is only 13 acres so they only grow 10% of the grapes. They buy the other 90% of the grapes from local vineyards.

Ralf is the winemaker at Black Stallion who taught us about the vineyard. He wants his grapes to be very high quality so his wine will be successful.

Most of the grapes at his vineyard do very well but some of the grapes have a problem with pests.

These pests in the vineyard are bad for the grapes. They eat the plants and give them diseases. The diseases can then spread all over the vineyard.

We want to help stop the pests. To do this we needed a solution that would stop the pests without using chemicals or harming the grapes.

Our solution is to make a device that attracts and captures bugs. We came up with an idea where you take cups and you fill them with a sticky solution, then add fermenting fruit on top to attract the bugs. When they try to eat eat the fruit, they get trapped by the sticky solution so they will not eat the grapes.
