The most important

INTERESTING CONTENT!
Much like this photo and photography in general, your writing must be interesting to catch your readers' attention.

You need to have these points in place:

1. Focus
2. Purpose
3. Emotion/connection

Boring

content is lost in the abyss of the internet
If you play it safe, your content will be boring.

Take risks!

Push Limits!
If you have a strong opinion, it you write things that others won't say, if you contribute to the conversation of your readership...

They will share.

If it gives you butterflies

PUBLISH IT!
Without risk there is no reward.

This is the biggest challenge for writers - stepping out of their comfort zones.

If it makes you nervous, want to throw up, or if you have any hesitation at all....

PUBLISH IT!

Break the habit of fear and be a fearless writer. Your readers will appreciate it!

Syndicate your Content

It's the spiderweb technique!
Your blog is the central focus. Use other platforms to syndicate your content out to potential new readers, or people who prefer to consume information in specific ways.

RSS
Facebook
Twitter
Google Plus
Peer Review sites

Put the "Social"

Back in social media
Word of mouth from your readership is your next best form of marketing. Bloggers are in the relationship building business by nature.

Reply to all of your social comments within the hour, and no later than 24 hours after a conversation has started.

Write social updates that:

1. Ask questions
2. Ask for opinions
3. Inspire civil discourse
4. Bring like-minded people together

NEtwork

with your community!
Many writers need to remember to step outside and meet readers in person.

This may be at:

Meetups
Tweetups
Invitational Coffee Meetings
Or hosted events!

Form

Media Partnerships
Bloggers are independent and are often times a complementary medium for other publications.

You can collaborate with:

Radio stations
Newspapers
Magazines
Other blogs!

Don't be afraid to make the first move and propose a mutually beneficial collaboration.

Mutually beneficial being the key word.

Collaborate

with Non-Profits
Does your blog niche fit inline with a non-profit goal?

Non-profit organizations are always looking for ways to get their cause noticed but often don't have the marketing and advertising budgets to support their awareness.

Bloggers can collaborate with non-profits by writing posts and doing marketing trades.
