  • Purpose: to show that man is worse than a winter wind
  • "Thou art not so unkind/ As man's ingratitude
  • Theme: humanity is not grateful
  • "As man's ingratitude"
  • Tone: the poet feels angry that people don't appreciate their lives

  • "Thy tooth is not so keen"
  • Mood: the mood is dark and sad
  • "Thou art not so unkind/ Although thy breath be rude.

Wind will continue to blow. Although it isn't as bad as man's lack of gratitude. Wind is not as sharp as man, because it isn't seen, although wind still isn't pleasant.
