•Methemoglobinemia: a blood disorder in which an abnormal amount of methemoglobin -- a form of hemoglobin -- is produced.
CAUSE & RISK FACTORS:
•can be passed down through family, caused by exposure to certain drugs, chemicals, or foods.
•can't be around certain chemicals
PREVENTION:
•genetic counseling is recommended for couples of family history
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS:
•bluish color of skin
•developmental delay
•failure to thrive
•intellectual disability
•seizures
