  • The tallest mountain is Jabal an Nabi Shu' ayb.
  • The largest desert in the world Rub' al Khali.

HISTORY

  • People have been living where Yemen is located sense 2000 b.c.
  • Northern and southern Yemen did not come together until 1990.
  • By the early seventh century there was a religion called Islam.
  • In 1839 the British took over Aden witch is a big Yemen city.
  • It was owned by British East India company until 1937.

DAILY LIFE

  • Yemen has a lot of locally grown grains.
  • They also have a lot of fruit and vegetables.
  • The Muslims do not eat pork or drink alcohol.
  • Homes are mostly big, nice apartment buildings.
  • The apartments are crappy and run down on the inside.

SOCIAL GROUPS

  • Soccer is a favorite sport in Yemen.
  • There are not many fun places to go in Yemen.
  • You should not be friends with someone of the opposite gender.

YEMEN LANGUAGE

  • The official language of Yemen is Arabic.
  • Most of the countries that surround also speak Arabic.
  • Oman, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab

WHAT DO PEOPLE WEAR

  • Men and women dress very different.
  • What men where states where a man is from, and his tribe.
  • Men- A Futa, a turban, and a jabiya
  • Women dress to reflect there religion and social life.
  • Women- Loose long dresses, and cover their face with cloth

HOW PEOPLE LIVE

  • Yemen has a population of over 23 million.
  • Like most other countries they have rural and urban areas.
  • Most children spend there time with family or neighborhood friends.
  • Usually doing chores or playing games.
  • They usually have small schools with a lot of kids packed in.

RELIGION

  • Muslim is the main religion of Yemen.
  • They believe that prophets are human and not divine.
  • Northen and southern Yemen are battling over religion.
  • Yemen gives the right to practice any religion.
  • Yemen has many other religions and beliefs.

ECONOMY

  • The Yemeni Rial is there type of money.
  • Most of the there exports have to do with type of oil.
  • Most of there imports have to do with food and machinery.
  • Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Aribian Peninsula.
  • They make a lot of there oils and farming also tourism.

GOVERNMENT

  • They are a republic government.
  • They are a presidential system.
  • There presidents name is Mansur Hadi.

ART

  • They like painting and sculptures in Yemen.
  • They also like art as in the art of music.
  • Most of there art is nothing like art in the U.S.A.
