PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Your IMMUNE SYSTEM is what fights off germs and sicknesses.
There are 4 types of protectors.
The first type of protector is the B-CELLS. They make IMMUNOGLOBINS, also know as ANTIBODIES, or IGS. Each has a different job.
IGS
- IgMs protect our blood and other things inside us
- IgGs travel in our blood to get to the germs
- IgAs protect places where we have saliva, germs, tears, and mucus
There are also T-cells. There are KILLER T-CELLS, HELPER T-CELLS, and REGULATORY T-CELLS.
Killer T-Cells kill germs.
Helper T-Cells call in more Killer T-Cells to kill germs and tell the B-Cells when to make antibodies.
The Regulator T-Cell tells the B-Cells when the body is better and they can stop making antibodies.
The third protector is the PHAGOCYTE.
Phagocytes kill germs by eating them. The also send signals for help to other Phagocytes.
The last protector is the COMPLEMENT.
The Complement is made of many pieces working together to protect us from infection.
