The red stands for bravery, yellow for the nations mineral resources and green for fertility of the land. The coat of arms is on the yellow band.

Bolivia's capital is La Paz, the administrative capital and Sucre, the constitutional capital

  • Andes Mountains
  • Plateau (Altiplano)
  • The Amazon Basin
  • Several salt flats (remnants of ancient lakes)

The climate in Bolivia is varied, as it depends on the altitude. It can be humid and tropical to cold and semi-arid.

  • Raquel Welch, actress. Won Golden Globe in 1974 for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy
  • Víctor Paz Estenssoro. Only political leader to be President 4 separate times
  • Maria Fernanda Álvarez, tennis. Won a WTA double match in 2013

FOOD, CUSTOMS, AND TRADITIONS

  • Bolivian families are close and usually live under the same roof
  • Offering lots of food at marriages, baptisms, or funerals is important
  • The major meal is lunch, which is typically 4-course in upperclass and restaurants
