Clostridium Botulinum

BEcause it is a bacteria...

  • It has double stranded DNA with circular chromosomes
  • Reproduction is asexual through binary fission
  • There are no membrane bound organelles
  • It can make its own energy with macromolecules

GRAM POSITIVE

Clostridium botulinum is gram positive. This means that the bacteria's cell walls have a layer of membrane then a think layer of peptidoglycan, a polymer composed of protein and sugar

Optimal Conditions FOR  GROWTH


In order for the bacteria to grow certain conditions must be met.

ANAEROBIC

One of the conditions is that the environment must be anaerobic or without oxygen.

MOIST ENVIRONMENT

The environment must be moist but also warm. Soil, freshwater mud, saltwater mud, aquatic sediments, and aquatic creatures are typical hosts.

The bacteria exists in environments with low-acidic content.
