BEFORE REVOLUTION

  • Portugal was in fear of Napoleon
  • King & Queen fled to Brazil
  • Future King João VI remained in Brazil
  • 1815 Brazil declared equal status with Portugal
  • João returned to Portugal, leaving his son, Pedro.

START OF REVOLUTION

  • The Crillolos of Brazil had started to revolt against Portugal
  • In 1822, razir the Portuguese Cortes sought to end the dual kingdom status
  • Revolution was planned in a quick amount of time.
  • The lead of the revolution was Pedro VI

MIDST OF REVOLUTION

  • Brazil did not fight long and cruel war.
  • Brazil conquered small uprisings against Portuguese military bases
  • Not that much combat had occurred

  • Eventually, Portuguese gave in to Brazil
  • The deal was made peacefully
  • Made Brazil it's own country
